Computational Biology Engineer / Data Scientist

Lifeware Labs is currently seeking candidates to lead signal processing efforts as applied to human physiology. As a computational biology engineer, you will be involved with all aspects of physiological data handling, including signal processing, displaying, and storage. Candidates will implement online and offline algorithms as part of smartphone applications and cloud computing infrastructure. We are looking for highly motivated data scientists who are passionate about health data and have proficiency in leading signal processing approaches and tools.

Applicable candidates include those with an undergraduate or graduate degree in computational biology, computer science or related field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fuse sensor data to reduce effects of noise sources on quality of measured vitals.

  • Implement efficient and effective data processing algorithms

  • Generate well-documented results which demonstrate a sound scientific approach

  • Communicate and present designs and results to the Lifeware team

  • Implement good software development practices including documentation, unit tests,

Qualifications

  • Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral Degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, or related field.

  • Project-based experience implementing signal processing or machine learning algorithms

  • Solid understanding of the underlying implementation details and principles of algorithms

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

 

Wearables Mechatronics Engineer

 

Lifeware Labs is seeking an mechatronics engineer to lead the design, development and fabrication of wearable technology. This position requires a broad skill set of CAD/circuit design, rapid prototyping using Lifeware facilities, and microcontroller software development (the “firmware”) with a focus on power management and device usability. This position will strongly collaborate with both our hardware engineers and signal processing engineers to develop an easy-to-use product that’s capable of clinical grade physiological monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

  • CAD design and rapid manufacturing using our array of 3D printers.

  • Design, fabrication, and testing of printed circuit boards and subcomponents.

  • Firmware development for wearable patch microcontrollers, including wireless charging and programming, signal processing, power consumption optimization, and driver level development.

  • Hardware design including new sensors, antenna selection & design, and wireless battery recharging.

  • Design for durability including waterproofing, impact resistance, and sterilization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 1 year experience with PCB design

  • 1 year experience with CAD software

  • Examples of completed projects involving 3D printed to obtain a functional prototype.

  • Examples of completed projects using custom PCBs or Arduinos.

  • Experience with firmware level software programming (C,C++)
