Biomedical/Biochemical Engineer

Lifeware Labs is currently seeking a highly motivated scientist/engineer to assist development of our proprietary wearable health care technologies.  The ideal candidate is a highly skilled researcher with hands-on experience in microfabrication (in particular soft lithography), expertise in materials processing, and working knowledge of software development (Python, Java, C++). The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of product development from development and testing to market transition.  As a rapidly growing start-up with diverse product pipelines in wearable technologies for health tracking and intervention, Lifeware prioritizes individuals who demonstrate curiosity, creativity, passion, and broad skill sets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical analysis of transdermal drug delivery

  • Identify and develop process improvements for polymer drug delivery vehicle manufacturing

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and software developers to advance Lifeware’s product pipeline.

  • Develop software solutions for signal processing, device control, and user interfaces

  • Communicate results of research efforts to the Lifeware team

Qualifications

  • Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

  • At least one year hands-on wet lab experience, preferably in microfabrication

  • Strong problem-solving skills

Computational Biology Engineer / Data Scientist

Lifeware Labs is currently seeking candidates to lead signal processing and machine learning efforts as applied to human physiology. As a computational biology engineer, you will be involved with all aspects of physiological data handling, including signal processing, displaying, and storage. Candidates will implement algorithms to filter raw signals and extract key physiological metrics. We are looking for highly motivated data scientists who are passionate about health data and have proficiency in leading machine learning approaches and tools (Matlab, Python, R).

Applicable candidates include those with an undergraduate or graduate degree in computational biology, computer science or related field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fuse sensor data to reduce effects of user motion on quality of measured vitals.

  • Implement efficient and effective data processing algorithms

Application Software Developer

Lifeware Labs is currently seeking candidates to lead application development. As an application developer, you will help design the user interface and user experience for multiple wearable system tools and develop software for handheld platforms as well as cloud interfaces. We are seeking applicants that have experience in user interface development for smart phones and tablets (iOS and Android) as well as web/cloud development experience (HTML5 and cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services). 

Applicable candidates include those with an undergraduate or graduate degree in software development, human computer interaction, and web development.

Key Responsibilities

  • UX design for a wide range of stakeholders, including military and everyday consumer

  • App development within iOS, Android and web-based platforms

  • Communicate and present designs and results to the Lifeware team

  • Implement good software development practices including documentation, unit tests, automated builds, code repository best practices

Wearables Electrical Engineer

Lifeware Labs is seeking an electrical engineer to lead printed circuit board development for wearable electronic applications. This position will involve designing from the ground up, including microprocessor and IC selection, as well as microcontroller software development (the “firmware”). Lifeware has the capability of rapid prototyping PCBs in-house, which will be utilized to quickly iterate on new designs. This position will strongly collaborate with both our hardware engineers and signal processing engineers to develop an easy-to-use product that’s capable of clinical grade physiological monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, fabrication, and testing of printed circuit boards and subcomponents.

  • Firmware development for wearable patch microcontrollers, including signal processing, power consumption optimization, and driver level development.

  • Hardware design including new sensors, antenna selection & design, and wireless battery recharging.

  • Develop capability of wireless microcontroller reprogramming.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 1 year experience with PCB, preferably with EAGLE software.

  • Examples of completed projects using custom PCBs or Arduinos.

  • Experience with firmware level software programming (C,C++)

Wearables Mechanical Engineer

Lifeware Labs is seeking a mechanical engineer to assist with the development of a wearable patch for physiological monitoring. The ideal candidate is able to achieve both form and function in one beautiful device. This device will be the hands-on component and first impression that users and customers interact with. The patch must securely attach to the body to provide high-quality vitals measurements, while also being easy to use and low profile. This position will involve CAD design, rapid manufacturing, durability testing, and FDA-compliant mass manufacturing. Ultimately, the patch will be deployed with stakeholders ranging from military and hospital personnel to the everyday consumer.

Key Responsibilities

  • CAD design and rapid manufacturing using our array of 3D printers.

  • Multimaterial design using rigid plastics and ceramics to soft touch silicones.

  • Design for durability including waterproofing, impact resistance, and sterilization.

  • Interfacing with mass manufacturing partners as well as the FDA.

  • Designing and evaluating the useability and aesthetic of the patch.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • 1 year experience with CAD software of your choice (Creo currently used in-house).

  • Examples of completed projects involving 3D printed to obtain a functional prototype.

  • Experience with sketching and drawing to clearly communicate product vision.
